How we collect data

Data may be collected as your visit our site.

Email

We have never and will never sell our email list. We use MailerLite to collect email addresses and send emails. Their Privacy Policy can be found here.

Emails may be collected when you sign up for a “course” or “coaching” session via the Teachable platform and/or the Calendly appointment scheduling platform. These emails are used to create your account and give you updates regarding your course or appointments. You can view their privacy policies here:

Purchases

We use Stripe and PayPal on our sites to collect payment for purchases made on this site and via Teachable and/or Calendly. You can find their Privacy Policies listed above.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Visitors are not permitted to download images or graphics from this website or courses created by this website without permission.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Analytics

BirthSmarts collects statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website. We may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, BirthSmarts does not disclose your personally-identifying information.

We may track social shares made at our website. Google automatically collect and store certain information in their server logs which includes device event information such as crashes, system activity, hardware settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and referral URL, cookies that may uniquely identify your browser or your Google Account, in accordance with their data privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Who we share your data with and what we do with your data

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

When you purchase something from our website, as part of the buying and selling process we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Purchases on this website may go through a Third Party Vendor. We recommend that you view their specific Privacy Policy. BirthSmarts, LLC and any of its properties are not responsible for how vendors use your data.

When you click on links on our store, they may direct you away from our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.

We do not intentionally target people in the EU as readers of our blog, email list subscribers, or as customers for our courses. However, we are still taking the following steps to protect the privacy of all of our reader and customers. We will continue to do our absolute best to always consider the privacy of our valued readers and customers.

We want you to know that we have Google Analytics installed. If you provide your email address to us for any reason via one of these signups, you will be subscribed to our email list. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link on all of our emails.
